Type of activity: Matchdays at the stadium.
Target group: Athletes and attendees.
Topic addressed: Citizenship and positive behaviour.
Values created: Respect, effort, teamwork, determination, excellence and fairness.
Project impact: The aim of the project is to dedicate a day to showcase values the club and its foundation stand for. The day attracts over 13,000 spectators to the stadium and during halftime the club’s youth and development squads showcased those values.
Over the last two years the club has noticed a decline in negative behaviour from parents and spectators. More parents have enrolled their children in the activities run by the club.
Cultural Leonesa and Fundación Culturalista select a specific match-day to raise awareness and celebrate the values that football helps to foster linked to the core values of the club.
All the club’s grassroots teams and local partner clubs are involved in half-time activity in which 300 players parade on the pitch displaying six sport positive values: effort, respect, teamwork, determination, excellence and fairness.
- Raise awareness about the importance of value creation in sport
- Engage the audience in showing positives values during matches
- To instigate change of behaviour among players and spectators
- Promote the club as socially responsible organisation and assure parents that their children are being informally educated through positive attitudes
The Grassroots and Values Day is now widely recognised amongst fans of the club and parents in Leon (Spain) and has elevated the club as socially responsible organisation.
